Dacor is an American former manufacturer of scuba diving gear. The company was started in 1953 by Sam Davison Jr. of Evanston, Illinois. It was previously known as The Davison Corporation. Later, the name was shortened to Dacor. "Dacor" is a combination of the initials "da" and the syllable "cor" - hence the company's name. In 2006, the company was acquired by Mares, a brand known for its dive computers.

The DACOR regulator in Darth Vader was reportedly created by the same firm that created the scuba regulations used by Star Wars droids. It may sound odd, but this is the best depiction possible of the regulator Darth vader used in the films. This regulator was made by Dacor. Dacor was one of the original five manufacturers of diving equipment in the United States. Mares is now part Dacor.
