PADI Open Water Diver certification
PADI Open Water Diver certification can be obtained for as little as $350 - if you can find a place to study. For your certification, you'll need to do at least four openwater dives. Apart from the Open Water Diver manual you will also need to complete knowledge reviews. These reviews will test your swimming and floating skills. Skills for confined water diving
The PADI Instructor Manual contains a list of skills required for each confined water diving level. These skills include ascent and descend, mask clearing, neutral buoyancy at different depths and setting up and using your equipment. These skills are necessary for open water diving. However, confined diving is much simpler. It is also more entertaining! It's also more fun to dive under the sunlight and see a variety of wildlife.
PADI Open Water Diver starts at 8.30am. You'll have a brief orientation, a theoretical session, and a practical session in confined water. During this time, you'll learn to breathe underwater, compensate for pressure, and retrieve your regulator. You'll then embark on a PADI dive on a boat to the Atlantic Princess, a thirty-meter-long wreck rich in marine life.
Maximum training depth
Open Water certification will allow you to safely dive to the maximum permissible depth. However, the question that many Open Water certified divers have is how deep they can go. The majority of agencies allow open water diving for 50 minutes before recommending that divers go deeper. Below are some guidelines to help you decide if you should train at this level.
A course of advanced swimming will require you to be able swim at least 50ft/15m without stopping. A typical course takes 14 minutes. You'll need the ability to swim distances of 200 yards (185m) and not stop. The equipment you will need is a single-cylinder, with at most 72 feet of capacity and adequate supervision. An exposure suit will be required to fit the length of your dive course.
The course requirements
