What is the Difference between a dry and wet suit?

diver certification

The primary difference between a wetsuit and a drysuit, is how much water is allowed into the suit. Your personal preference and your plans for participation will determine which wetsuit you choose. Ask yourself questions about how long you intend to stay in the water, how cold it gets and what your body type.

Gore-Tex dry suits

The fabric is a crucial difference between GoreTex wetsuits and dry suits. Non-GoreTex suits don’t breathe as well, and they don’t provide the same level comfort and durability. New dry suit fabrics have been created, including waterproof andbreathable fabrics. Kokatat designed a dry suit using a Gore-Tex fabric that is durable and yet breathable. Kokatat's suits became the first to go on the market.

Trilaminate dry suits

The only difference between wet and dry suits is their outer shells. Trilaminate suits, while waterproof, lack insulation and generally light in weight. They also require a better fitting and are less flexible that trilaminate ones. This article will discuss the differences between trilaminate and wet suits, and give tips for choosing which suits you best.

Hydrus 3L fabric dry suits

The Kokatat Hydrus 3L, an updated version of T3 Swift Entry is made from a water-resistant and breathable three-layer fabric. The outer nylon layer and the proprietary polyurethane microporous inner coating move water vapor away. While the inner layer of soft knit polyester is comfortable against your skin, it has a tough nylon layer. This drysuit features tough latex necks, wrists, and ankle seals to keep water out.

A wetsuit is more durable than a drysuit when it comes to keeping you dry. Dry suits are not only warm but they also keep water from transferring onto your skin. A lot of dry suits also have purge vals. Dry suits are used by aircrews for example.
