PADI Instructor Education Course (IDC).

The PADI Instructor Training Course (IDC), is designed to help instructors prepare for the PADI instructor exam. Candidates are tested in the classroom and in confined water. Each section is composed of various tests and practice exercises. This course emphasizes practical experience. Candidates will be expected to plan and implement their own lessons as well as learning from others. Additional diving theory will be covered in the course.

The PADI Instructor Development Course consists of 19 presentations, each covering a different topic. The PADI System, Course Standards and PADI Instructor Manual are some of the topics covered. Course orientation

For your success at the IDC, the orientation phase is essential if you have ever been to one. However, a PADI Staff Instructor's evaluation of teaching presentations is also crucial. If you've struggled to learn or have difficulty understanding a certain topic, this instructor is there to help you succeed. The IDC instructor will review all aspects of the curriculum and give constructive feedback.

You'll be able to learn all about the PADI System of Education and Practice during the Instructor Development Course. The course topics include the Dive Industry Overview, General Standards and procedures, Prescriptive Teaching and Legal Responsibility, Risk Management and 5 Dive Theories. Practical applications will also be covered. Depending on which focus is being used, the orientation portion of the PADI Instructor Design Course can last up to three days.

Open Water Teaching Presentations

Two required Open Water Teaching Presentations are part of the PADI Instructor Training Course (IDC). These presentations are critical for the overall success in the IDC program. PADI IDC candidates must be able to perform two dives at the same time. These skills may come from different courses. To ensure they are able to master these skills, candidates must practice them before the IDC. They should also feel confident and have a solid understanding of all the skills they will acquire during their PADI Divemaster Course.

PADI Instructor Development courses include nine (9) IDC Curriculum presentations. These presentations are delivered by the PADI Course Director or IDC Staff and must be relevant to the PADI Open Water Diver, PADI Rescue Diver, or PADI Advanced Open Water Course. They should include a Knowledge Development Teaching presentation, and two skills presentations from Rescue Diver Course.
