Dive Sites in LA

White Point is one of LA's most popular dive spots. It is located near the hypothermal hot springs and has white bacterial mats at the bottom. The dive site also features an old shipwreck, rock reef, and kelp beds. It is also home to giant sea stars, cold water anemones, and urchins. High tide is the best time for diving.

Leo Carillo

Leo Carrillo La is a California state parks located along Los Angeles County's southern coast. It is part Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. It has 1.5 miles on the beach, which extends into Santa Monica Mountains. The pristine waters off Leo Carrillo State Park are a great place for scuba divers.

Divers have the option to choose from three main sites at Leo Carrillo. These dive sites are great for beginners, with easy entry points and plenty of parking. You can also go night diving or lobster hunting at these sites, and you will find lots of marine life.

Santa Barbara Island

Santa Barbara Island offers some outstanding offshore dive locations. To reach these sites, visitors can board a visiting boat. These areas are great for photography and hunting, as they are usually very rocky. These areas are home to healthy kelp and purple hydro coral. Moreover, the visibility here is excellent for Southern California waters.


The island offers kayaking and snorkeling for visitors. If it is dry, tent camping can be done. The island is home to a large population of pinnipeds including harbor seals and northern elephant seals as well as California sea lions. These animals can often be seen around the sealion rookery and at several overlooks.

Anacapa Island

Anacapa Island supports a wide variety marine life. One of America's first Marine Protected Areas can be found in this region. This area offers great diving for both beginners and seasoned divers. The waters around the island are relatively warm and are ideal for diving with a wetsuit. Surface temperatures can easily reach 70deg F (21deg C) in the late summer and fall. However, temperatures can drop to as low as 50 degrees F (10 degrees C) in the winter months. It is recommended that you use a 7mm waterproof suit. During these months visibility is typically at least 100ft (30M).

The Anacapa dive site is accessible by diving charter boats and the island's Island Packers. The island has many dive spots, including an arch rock that is 40 feet tall. These sites are also accessible from the sea surface with snorkeling gear.

Veteran's Park

Veteran's Park on Ocean Drive is a Green Space that features a playground and fields. This is a wonderful place for families to come together. It is also very close to the beach. The park has a wonderful view of ocean from its top on sunny days. It is open all year, and has many things to offer.

It is easy to reach the parking area. Veteran's Park is the best spot to start your diving journey if you're a novice diver. It is easily accessible with restrooms and parking. The meter will always be checked and there's an outdoor shower where you can wash your gear. There's also a changing room, but the bathrooms close at dusk.
